More than half of the Russians questioned do not see the interest of the deposits offered by the Central Bank to the poor, since they have no savings. The results of a survey of the alternative lending service MoneyMan are cited by Gazeta.Ru.

Earlier, the Central Bank indicated that the return on special bank deposits for low-income people should be set at the level of “policy rate plus 1%”. We are talking about people with an income of around 30,000 per month.

52% of respondents said they see no point in such deposits, as they do not have the opportunity to save money. 30% noted that such contributions can be requested and relevant, 15% said they generally support the idea, but consider the conditions not favorable enough. Another 3% struggled to answer.

Service also asked what the Russians would like to change about this innovation. 37% of respondents believe that social payments should not be taken into account when considering the right to open a deposit. 33% suggested allowing part of the money to be withdrawn early without losing interest. 29% of respondents said that profitability should be linked not to the key rate, but to the level of inflation in each particular region. 23% wanted to see just a mechanism for confirming the level of income for opening such a deposit, 13% suggested giving the possibility of opening several deposits.

The survey was conducted from October 20 to 27, it was attended by 1.5 thousand people with an income of not more than 30 thousand per month.
