Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 All Updates, Release Date

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 might be the most anticipated game in the series so far. Fans who didn’t like how Black Ops Cold War played or how Vanguard was set in the Second World War will be happy to hear that the next game in Activision’s FPS shooter series will be set in modern combat. The next Call of Duty game is expected to continue on from Captain Price’s adventures in 2019’s Modern Warfare. When will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 come out?

Well, that’s exactly the question we’re here to answer. We also hope to give you a little more information about when you can expect to jump into the next next-generation Call of Duty experience. So, keep reading and we’ll let you know what we know so far.

CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE 2 RELEASE DATE

The release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set for October 28, 2022.

Modern Warfare came out on October 25, 2019, and the sequel is almost coming out the same week.

Before these three games, which are a new interconnected Call of Duty experience with cross-progression and Warzone, Call of Duty games have always been released in October and November, with the exception of Modern Warfare Remastered, which came out on its own in June/July 2017.

TRAILERS FOR CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2

After Modern Warfare 2 was shown to the world on June 8, we now have a real trailer to talk about.

As you can see, this game picks up three years after the events of Modern Warfare and has characters from previous games. After a US airstrike accidentally kills a foreign general, the team has to move around to try to stop an enemy offensive.

Before this trailer, all we had was a short live-action trailer that told us Modern Warfare 2 would be shown on June 8.

MODERN WARFARE 2 BETA

There will be a beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but PlayStation consoles will get it first. To get access, players will have to pre-order the game, but there’s no word yet on when the beta period will be.

MODERN WARFARE 2 MISSIONS:

We only know about four Modern Warfare 2 missions so far: Nightwar, Wet Work, Tower, and a mission that takes place in a vehicle.

In Nightwar, you’ll play as Soap during a nighttime raid on a terrorist safehouse. In Wet Work, you’ll play as Gaz and learn how the game’s stealth mechanics work on land and sea. And in Tower, you’ll have to rappel – head or feet first – down a huge skyscraper to clear it.

All three of these missions give players the freedom to choose how to play, which fits with Infinity Ward’s goal of making Call of Duty 2.0.

In the vehicle mission, which doesn’t have a name, you can shoot out of windows, take over other cars, and do whatever you want. In Modern Warfare 2, you can apparently drive any vehicle you want, so this one might be worth keeping an eye on.

MODERN WARFARE 2 FEATURES:

Modern Warfare 2 has a lot of new features, like swimming, new ways to move, and more. But the way you move may be what gets most players’ attention.

In Infinity War, players will be able to slide and dive again, which should change how they fight in battles and bring them to the water’s edge. From now on, swimming will be a big part of Modern Warfare, and you’ll be able to ADS and fire while you’re underwater.

In Call of Duty, you can also vault by grabbing a ledge and deciding whether or not to peek over. Infinity Ward says this is called “ledge-hanging,” and it will give players more choices during gameplay.

In Modern Warfare 2, the Gunsmith system is also being changed. Each weapon will have access to about 70 attachments. This will give players full control over their guns and play style and help change the meta. Through a tuning screen, players will also be able to change certain weapon attachments, but only after they reach a certain level for that weapon.

MODERN WARFARE 2 MULTIPLAYER MODES:

Multiplayer is an important part of Modern Warfare 2, and even though all the news lately has been about the game’s long campaign, multiplayer fans have a lot to look forward to.

Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and Team Deathmatch are all back, but there are also two new modes: Knockout and Prisoner Rescue.

Knockout is a 6v6 mode, but each round you only get one life, though there are ways to get it back. Players will have to fight over a package, and whoever controls it at the end wins the game.

In Prisoner Rescue, like in Rainbow Six Siege, two teams will have to protect or save a hostage. To do this, you can break through walls and doors.

MODERN WARFARE 2 FIELD UPGRADES:

So far, four of the field upgrades coming to Modern Warfare have been shown off by Infinity Ward. This is:

Tactical Camera

Drill Cost

DDOS

Floating Decoy

All four of these will be available from the start in multiplayer mode.
