WTA: Elena Rybakina Victory: WTA Celebrates Wimbledon Finals

Kazakh tennis player Elena Rybakina burst into tears at a press conference after winning the Wimbledon final over Tunisian Ons Jaber, Sports.

After the historic victory, Rybakina was asked how her parents reacted to this success, to which she replied, “They must be very proud of me!” Then the athlete burst into tears, after which she continued: “You wanted to see emotions.”

“The first champion from Asia.” WTA celebrates several achievements of Elena Rybakina at Wimbledon.

The official website of the Women’s Tennis Association  ( WTA ) highlighted several achievements of the Kazakhstani Wimbledon 2022 champion Elena Rybakina, Sports.

“For the first time in the Open Era, the Wimbledon final was between Grand Slam debutantes. The last time this happened at the championship was in 1962 when Karen Zusman defeated Vera Sukova.

No player from the Grand Slam continent has competed in the previous Wimbledon finals. Rybakina became the first woman representing an Asian nation to lift the Venus Rosewater plate.

Rybakina has never been eliminated before the second week of the Wimbledon main draw. This year’s champion reached the fourth round in her debut last year.

Two previous Grand Slam champions lost to Rybakina en route to the title: Bianca Andreescu (2019 US Open Champion) in the second round and Simona Halep (2019 Wimbledon Champion) in the semifinals.

The TV audience of the historical final of Elena Rybakina at Wimbledon became known.

On its Twitter page, the press service of the Australian Grand Slam tournament published a poster with the image of Rybakina against the background of the national flag and left the following description: “Historic first Grand Slam trophy for the Kazakh star!”

Roland Garros men’s doubles and 1989 Masters men’s doubles winner Patrick McEnroe reacted to Elena Rybakina ‘s victory in the Wimbledon final, Sports.

“How was such a tennis player missed in Russia?”. Rybakina’s victory is not considered a “super sensation”

In the decisive match of the Wimbledon tournament, the Kazakh tennis player defeated the second racket in the world Ons Jaber from Tunisia in three sets – 3:6, 6:2, and 6:2.

“Was it the calmest reaction to winning Wimbledon? Wow. Rybakina is a champion,” McEnroe wrote.

Note that Patrick McEnroe is the younger brother of the ex-first racket of the world and seven-time Grand Slam winner John McEnroe.

It is worth recalling that for Kazakhstan, Rybkaina’s victory was the first victory in the Grand Slam tournaments singles. Previously, Yaroslava Shvedova won Wimbledon and the US Open in 2010.

Recall that at Wimbledon 2022, Elena Rybakina defeated Coco Vandeweghe (157th) – 7:6, 7:5, Bianca Andreescu (56th) – 6:4, 7:6, Zheng Qinwen (52nd) – 7 :6, 7:5, Petru Martic (80th) – 7:5, 6:3, Aylu Tomlyanovic (44th) – 4:6, 6:2, 6:3, Simon Halep (18th) – 6:3, 6:3 and Ons Jaber (2nd) – 3:6, 6:2, 6:2.
