After the ceremony, Elton shared on Instagram two photos of meeting the queen and recalled how he once danced with her to Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley and his comets.
“Today, I will join the rest of the world in remembering Her Majesty the Queen. My own memories of her are filled with joy and admiration. . “I was lucky enough to perform at her three anniversaries. They have always been joyful and humiliating events. But those were the moments left out of the public eye for which I will remember her fondly: dancing together to Rock Around the Clock at Windsor Castle. or experiencing her wit, warmth, and humor firsthand. She served with grace and dedication and will be greatly missed.”
Following the Queen’s passing, Elton John issued a statement recalling her “inspiring presence”.

“Together with the rest of the nation, I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth,” the 75-year-old wrote. “She was an inspiring presence and guided the country through some of our greatest and darkest moments with grace, decency, and genuine caring warmth. Queen Elizabeth has been a huge part of my life from childhood to this day and I will miss her very much”.
