From Bollywood film enthusiasts to actors and politicians from India turned to social networks this Wednesday to show their condolences for the death of singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, 53 years old and better known as KK, who gave voice to hundreds of Bollywood songs.
The Indian Singer KK Died Shortly After the Concert
KK canceled the concert as he was feeling unwell:
The actor-songwriter died Tuesday night in the eastern city of Calcutta, where he was forced to cancel a concert midway through feeling unwell.
According to Indian media, Kee went to the hotel from the concert hall, got very cold, and said that he felt pain in the buttocks but before reaching the hospital, he died on the way.
KK was taken first to his hotel and then to a city hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following the news of Kay’s death, videos posted on social media showed him in critical condition.
The result of his medical examination is expected to be known soon. Police said they were investigating the cause of death. But apparently, he died of a heart attack.

One shows the singer wiping his face with a hand towel while a man off-camera complains about the heat. “Zyaada garam hai,” the man says as KK points to another person and seems to ask about the ventilation at the venue. Two other videos show that right after the singer thanked the crowd, she was rushed off stage by crew. He can be heard saying, “God bless you all” just before he turns around and is led out of the venue. A fourth video shows some people spraying the building with a fire extinguisher, which makes other people run for the exit.
Videos of the singer KK looking clearly uncomfortable at a concert in Kolkata that would be his last have been posted online. KK died on Tuesday night at the Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata after complaining of pain. He was 53 years old. In the city, a post-mortem would be done later today.
Some people who went to the indoor concert said that the singer was dripping with sweat and had even complained to the organisers about how stuffy it was. He had even asked for the lights to be turned down on him. Videos of the concert show what the conditions were like.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, one of the actors who mourned the loss of the singer, was “extremely sad and shaken” on Twitter by the death yesterday.
KK’s remarkable contribution to the film industry:
The singer, who had shared several videos of the concert in Calcutta that same day, was born in New Delhi in 1968 and initially began his musical career singing in commercials, before making the leap to the big screen.
His voice marked an entire generation, with hundreds of titles since his beginnings in 1996 as one of the four vocalists on the song Chod Aaye Hum Woh Galiyan, which was featured in the film about the insurgency in the northern state of Punjab in the late 1990s and ’80s.
One of his most iconic songs is “Pyaar Ke Pal” (“Moments of love”, in Hindi), a romantic song that has not stopped playing today accompanying the coverage of the artist’s death.
KK’s death comes just days after the murder of Indian rapper Sidhu Moose Wala, a controversial figure for promoting the use of weapons in his songs.
He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
