Yilong Ma is well known for being the Chinese Elon Musk’s doppelganger; however, this week he was banned from using the social media platforms Weibo and Douyin in China.
Elon Musk’s doppelganger, Yilong Ma, a Chinese impersonator of Elon Musk who became viral on TikTok and Twitter, appears to have been banned from using the Chinese versions of both services.

At the time of publication, Insider discovered that Ma’s page on Douyin, which is the equivalent of TikTok in China, had been cleaned of all material. Meanwhile, a content restriction notification was posted on Ma’s page on Weibo, which is the equivalent of Twitter in the nation. The notification stated that Ma had violated the policies of the platform.
Insider’s requests for comment were not immediately responded to by representatives of Douyin’s parent firm, ByteDance, or Weibo’s parent company, Tencent. The insider attempted to get a statement from Ma personally, but he did not immediately respond to our inquiry.
Elon Musk’s doppelganger’s page on the international version of TikTok, where he is known by the nickname “Elong Musk,” was still alive at the time that this story was written. Ma has little more than 239,000 followers on the network, and his videos have garnered approximately 3.9 million likes.

On Ma’s TikTok page, under her personal description was the phrase “I adore you.” “Ma first gained widespread attention in November 2020 after posting films to Douyin, China’s answer to TikTok, in which he looked to bear a striking likeness to Elon Musk. Later on, he was able to get Musk’s attention when Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, joked in response to a clip of Ma that he, too, maybe “partly Chinese.” This brought attention to Ma.
Ma later uploaded many videos on TikTok, including one in which he stated – in bad English – his thoughts on Musk’s high-profile acquisition of Twitter. Among the films was one in which Elon Musk’s doppelganger referred to Musk as “Elon.” In this video, he may be seen gesturing enthusiastically toward a printout of the Twilight novel. After some time, Ma became so popular that the CEO of Tesla stated that he would be interested in meeting Ma in person if it turned out that he was a real person.
“I’d like to meet this man (if he is real). It’s hard to tell these days with all the deep fakes,” Musk tweeted.
“I am present here. It would mean a lot to me to catch up with you. In response to the billionaire’s tweet, Ma said “I love you, you are my hero” in a post on Weibo referring to the account as “my bird!”

The American billionaire Elon Musk has shown an interest in meeting a Chinese man who has gained internet fame due to their striking similarity. Musk has stated that he would welcome the opportunity to do so.
At the tail end of the previous year, a brief video of Ma Yilong standing next to a car went viral, which is how he first came to the attention of Elon Musk. Ma Yilong is from the province of Hebei, which is located in northern China.
Musk joked about his heritage on Twitter in December of the previous year, writing, “Maybe I’m partially Chinese!”
