Messi is the future president of Argentina? The country conducted a strange survey

Messi

Although Lionel himself is not very interested in politics.

Argentina is still in ecstasy from what happened in Qatar. And the symbol of the holiday is still the same – Lionel Messi. Instead of recognizing him as a genius and the best player in the universe, Giacobbe y Asociados arranged a poll: the inhabitants of the country would vote for a football player if he put forward his candidacy for the presidency of the country.

Surprisingly, it turned out that there are a lot of serious and politically literate people in Argentina. And even the World Cup is not a reason to forget that football players and presidents must follow different paths. Only 43.7 percent of those polled said they would choose Messi over current leader Alberto Fernandez. 37.8 percent would not change the incumbent head of state to Lionel. And 17.5% preferred to refrain from choosing. In total, 2500 people of different ages took part in the survey. According to the source, the footballer evokes two feelings in the residents – “joy” and “admiration”.

At the same time, the respondents noted with satisfaction that they appreciated the gesture of the Argentine team and Messi specifically – namely, not to involve politics in the celebration of the victory. The team received an invitation to the presidential palace immediately after arriving in Buenos Aires. However, the Argentine Football Federation refused, as it considered that politicians just want to benefit from what is happening. 8 out of 10 respondents rated this decision positively.

Messi

Another interesting fact is the question to the participants about the political orientation in the Argentina national team. And here Messi is no longer in the lead. Most for Angel Di Maria – he has 97.4 percent of the vote, followed by Messi (96.7%), then – head coach Lionel Scaloni (96%). Below in the list are Juan Alvarez (95.8%), Emiliano Martinez (92.4%) and Rodrigo De Paul (85.1%).

It is interesting that Messi prefers not to get into politics and almost does not comment on any actions, and even more so on specific people. However, at the World Cup in Qatar, in one action, he had to make excuses. Remember the video where the footballer was trampling on the Mexico national team jersey? Immediately afterwards, he explained his behavior.

“There has been a misunderstanding. Anyone who knows me understands that I could not disrespect an opponent. This is the dressing room, things after the match. I have nothing to apologize for, because I do not disrespect the Mexican people or their T-shirt,” he said.

Messi

At the same time, politicians in Argentina still use the image of Messi. Leo was recently made an honorary citizen of the city of Funes, where he is building a house for his family. I had to record a video message with gratitude. The mayor of the city gladly posted it on his social networks. But the political life of a football player in Argentina is still limited to this.
