One Redfall location is bigger than all of Pray. Arkane Studios‘ upcoming shooter Redfall is apparently going to be massive, with just one area bigger than the entire Talos I Prey station.

One area in Arkane Studios’ upcoming vampire shooter Redfall is said to be larger than the entire Talos I space station featured in Prey. The respected developer is well known for his intricate and addictive RPGs like Arx Fatalis, Dishonored, and Prey. While Redfall ‘s cooperative vampire shooter is slightly different from the studio’s previous games, it will presumably have the same sense of scale and world-building.

Released back in 2017, Arkane Studios’ Prey is a love letter to thrilling sci-fi RPGs like System Shock and BioShock. As scientist Morgan Yu, the player is tasked with traversing the sprawling space station Talo I while fighting off an invasion of alien Typhons. Prey emphasizes freedom of choice, allowing players to solve problems using a wide array of tools, weapons, psychic abilities, and routes through the station. While Redfall may seem small by comparison, Arkane Studios’ next game promises to continue the developer’s legacy of world-building and player expression. Redfall allows for stealth and shooting approaches to hunting vampires, for example, and one of its areas appears to be even larger than Talos I.

According to IGN, a single farm in Redfall is larger than the entire Talos I space station from Prey. During a recent interview at QuakeCon 2022, Arkane Austin studio director Harvey Smith revealed that the Talos I was actually abandoned in a vampire-hunting area to have some fun with the developers. The station appeared to be dwarfed by the farm, which makes up one of two distinct neighborhoods in Redfall, illustrating the truly vast scale of the undead-infested city of Massachusetts. Considering the rest of the farm district, as well as the entire second district, Morgan Yu would be delighted with the size of the game map.

While Redfall was originally scheduled to release in 2022, Redfall ‘s delay to 2023 has given Arkane Studios more time to refine the bloodsucker hunting experience. The game promises to provide a solid gaming experience, allowing players to choose between four different playable characters, each with their own unique abilities. As a shooter, Redfall will also offer a wide variety of firearms to collect, making every coffin crawler encounter even more intense. While the game may not offer the same freedom as Prey, it should make up for it with multiplayer and a range of undead monsters to kill.
Prey Talos I station was stunningly large and superbly detailed, but the quaint seaside town of Redfall outshines the futuristic colossus. One farm in one of the vampire hunter’s areas outshines the space station, ensuring that players have plenty of room to hunt their undead enemies. However, quality is more important than quantity, and only time will tell if Redfall ‘s titular city is as exciting as Prey’s space setting.
Redfall will release in 2023 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
