Tempest Rising Death Squad

Tempest Rising Death Squad is an upcoming game based on the RTS games of the 90s

Tempest Rising is a real-time strategy game inspired by the classic games of the genre from the 90s like the Command & Conquer games.

The classic real-time strategy genre is long overdue for a comeback, and 3D Realms is up to the challenge with  Tempest Rising, which is a love letter to the classic RTS games of the 90s. Real-time strategy games were once a huge genre, allowing players to lead armies and build epic empires on the hardware of yesteryear, but have fallen out of favor compared to MOBAs and turn-based strategy games.

Tempest Rising Death Squad

Tempest Rising is inspired by series such as  Command & Conquer and  Starcraft, where players collect resources, recruit troops, build defenses, buy upgrades, and fight enemies. Players must manage their main base while directing individual squads that are in the field, constantly dividing their attention and forcing them to plan ahead. The game is being developed by Slipgate Ironworks with a team made up of big fans of the genre who want it to be revived with  Tempest Rising.

Tempest Rising was officially announced during the THQ Nordic 2022 digital showcase, and development on the game began three years ago. The game takes place in a futuristic alternate timeline, following a nuclear war and the discovery of a new resource known as The Tempest, resulting in various factions fighting over the substance. Tempest Rising features three factions: the GDF and Tempest Dynasty each have their own single-player story campaigns, while a third mysterious faction only appears in multiplayer mode. A trailer for Tempest Rising can be viewed on the official THQ Nordic YouTube channel.

Tempest Rising Death Squad

empest Rising is a real-time strategy game with sci-fi elements, but it still uses recognizable units, and squads of armed soldiers and tanks are part of the game. The game takes a classic rock-paper-scissors approach to units in how they react to each other in combat, while some units have special abilities that give them unique traits on the battlefield. In the single-player campaign, these special units must be unlocked by completing additional objectives, allowing them to be used in subsequent missions. The player also needs to create their own base with buildings that must be placed next to each other or next to resources in order to be able to collect Tempest and use it to buy more units. Factions also have support forces,

Tempest Rising is scheduled to launch in 2023, but people who attend GamesCom can try out an early demo of the game, including a limited multiplayer demo. It’s strange to think that the RTS genre rarely gets new titles, especially after watching the  Tempest Rising gameplay trailer. There are classic RTS games still played today, but  Tempest Rising might finally convince people to drop their old  Command & Conquer and  Age of Empires games and experience a whole new battlefield.
