Apple will appeal against the decision of the Brazilian authorities to ban the sale of smartphones without chargers. According to the Cupertino company, the absence of chargers in the kit reduces the negative impact on nature: if a person already has an iPhone charger, he does not need a new charger.

The company’s reason for not putting chargers:

“Our chargers are made of plastic and contain zinc. By removing them as standard, we have reduced carbon emissions by 2 million metric tons per year, the equivalent of 500,000 cars disappearing from the world’s roads,” the company said.

Packages with iPhone smartphones are no longer equipped with chargers in 2020. Many evil tongues then said that this was done to reduce the company’s costs: the charger is included for free, but it can be sold separately. But the company noted that there are already billions of chargers in the world that are ready for use and additional charges are not needed, and if needed, you can always buy a charger.

But the Brazilian authorities were not convinced by these arguments. Apple’s lawyers will now fight Brazil’s regulators in the courts. By the way, Apple `was also fined 12.275 million reais ($2.38 million) for “incomplete product” and “intentionally discriminatory practices against consumers.”
