UNDECEMBER Game Review The dark isometric action RPG
UNDECEMBER is a dark isometric action RPG in the vein of Lost Ark or Path of Exile. The character’s appearance is customized upon creation; There is no clear division into classes: the player forms his hero on his own, pumping the talents he needs and choosing the type of weapon; Key stats – Strength, Agility, and Intelligence.
UNDECEMBER – everything you need to know before launching the global version
Literally in a couple of days, on October 12, the global version of the Korean multiplatform disabled with a very unusual name Undecember will be released, and in order to prepare for this event, in this article we will analyze in detail everything you need to know about the game.
Let’s start with the most important basic information:
The game supports 10 languages. The game was created on Unreal Engine 4, so the picture and animations look very acceptable, not AAA-level, but quite good for isometrics.
The game will be available on PC, Android, and iOS platforms. In the case of the PC client, the developers have optimized most of the interface, bringing it to an acceptable state.
There are automation elements – using consumable potions in 1 and 2 quick access slots, picking up loot, using an ability in the first slot (the default is LMB), and crafting (more on that later).
There is a built-in extensive system of filters, but, unfortunately, they do not hide the names of items, but simply do not allow them to be picked up.
Also at this point, I want to leave a very useful link to the official catalog of all runes. In addition to describing the main effects and illustrative GIF examples, the method of obtaining is indicated there, and this is a rather important point (you will understand why later).
Donate is expressed in various cosmetic items for the character, a special store, a battle pass, and a premium. Since the donate store is not available in the client of the currently open test, the information below is based on the Korean version and some things may well be incorrect.
In my opinion, it is worth buying only special warehouse tabs in the store. Firstly, they allow you to store items in stacks of a larger number, that is, if item X has a maximum stack size of 50, in a special tab it is 2000. Secondly, items from tabs are automatically used in their associated systems, thanks to this you, say, don’t have to drag resources into your inventory to improve equipment.
The video below is a good example of the assortment of a Korean donut store (I advise you to turn off the sound because during the recording I forgot to turn off the music).
Filter-based pets automatically collect items within a certain radius of the character and allow you to remotely sell unwanted items. However, all these functions are available only after purchasing a special ticket for donation, it is valid for a certain period of time (7 or 30 days).
In my opinion, the current functionality of pets is useless, especially the function of selling items that are better to be dismantled for resources.
Here are collected various passive systems that allow you to slightly strengthen the character or get valuable items:
Ranks – provide various bonuses, for example, slightly increase the chance of a crit or the damage of summons. They are issued for various achievements, and only 1 rank can be activated at a time.
Achievements or, more simply, achievements – they give out a different reward.
Scenario catalog – allows you to get various rewards for completing acts, side quests, and killing mini-bosses.
The item catalog is a standard collection that provides various bonuses as it is completed. Bonuses vary depending on the type of collection – unique equipment, runes.
Mastery – allows you to activate passive effects related to combat and crafting. Mastery levels increase as you upgrade items and crafts.
The only way to exchange between players. Allows you to sell and buy weapons, armor, some resources for improvement, and other useful items. All transactions are made for rubies.
The guild allows players to access special buffs, a merchant, and some very unique competitive content. The essence of the latter is that server guilds are randomly divided into factions and compete with each other, farming certain cards of the Chaos dungeon (PvE content). You can read more about guilds in a separate article.
At the time of writing, the game world is divided into 11 plot acts that are part of 3 chapters. Each act consists of about 15 separate locations and 1 city (hub), in the locations you see only your character and group members, and in the cities – the characters of other players. That is, the world of Undecember is made according to a similar system as in Path of Exile, for example.
